Funded Playwork training from the NEC
March 4, 2010
If you are an Early Years practitioner thinking of moving into the Playwork sector - or you would like the flexibility to work across both Early Years and Playwork settings - then you may be interested in undertaking NEC’s Level 3 Award in Playwork for Early Years and Childcare Workers (also known as the Transitional Modules).
By completing this award, you will be able to work in a supervisory/management position in either area and enhance your career at the same time.
As a SkillsActive Code of Practice training provider, NEC is able to draw down the funding for learners to undertake this award free of charge.
To be eligible for the funding, you need to
- Have a relevant Level 3 qualification in children’s care and education
- Currently work, or would like to work, in playwork settings
- Have access to a setting whose main purpose is playwork
- Enlist the help of a workplace supervisor or mentor within the playwork setting
You will also need access to a computer.
The programme focuses on the critical differences between the knowledge and skills you already have as an early years worker, and the additional knowledge and skills required to work competently, safely and effectively in a playwork setting. The course consists of two units and takes approximately 60 hours to complete.
If you would like further information about this award and how you can take advantage of the funding please contact Nicola Aveston or Carly Acres on 01223 400261 or 400206.
