CMI Level 5 Certificate in Management and Leadership

Intended for completion by middle managers and anyone wishing to manage at a senior level, this industry-standard qualification from the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) will give you the knowledge and confidence you need to progress your career. Our home study course will improve your skills in areas such as resource management, recruitment and information management and is sure to prove invaluable for anyone serious about a senior management role.

Course requirements

You will need current or previous experience at first line or middle management level, or you should be ready to move into a management role. You will also need to feel reasonably confident with report and analytical writing.

Duration of study

As a guideline, you should allow for between 20 and 35 guided learning hours per unit depending on unit choice, plus additional time for completing assignments. You will have tutor support for a period of up to 12 months from the date of enrolment.


This course is accredited by CMI, the Chartered Management Institute.

There are four tiers to this qualification. The Award will help you to develop a specific aspect of your role, the Certificate will broaden your skills and knowledge, the Diploma will develop key skills needed to move on to senior management, and the Extended Diploma develops you further to give you all the key skills and competencies you'll need to become an effective manager.
