Surge in Adult Education
May 13, 2010
According to an annual survey from NIACE, the number of adult Britons planning to study has soared this year to 47% of the UK's population.
This increase could be a result of the recession and fears about job security. 13% of full and 58% of part time workers are planning to take up learning in the next few years.
Increases in wanting to learn can be seen through various age groups:
- Three quarters of 17-24 year olds who have left full-time education plan to study in the next three years.
- More than a third of 55-64 year olds and a fith of 65-74 want to take up learning.
