Carers into Education conference evaluation report is launched
April 7, 2009
Carers Learning Needs - What Next? was the title of the conference held in London on March 19 to celebrate the launch of the evaluation report of NEC’s three year Lottery funded project Carers into Education.
The keynote speech was given by Philippa Russell, who was chosen invited by Gordon Brown to chair the Standing Commission on Carers.
Other speakers included: Stephen Jackson from the Department of Children, Schools, and Families, Julie Lynes-Grainger, Director of Learners with Learning Difficulties and Disabilities at the Learning and Skills Council, and Christine Rowley, Carer Co-ordinator at Dudley Metropolitan Council.
Two carer students also spoke about their experiences on the project.
Around eighty people attended the event from carers’ organisations, educational establishments, social services, carer students and charitable organisations working with carers.
The evaluation report can be downloaded here.
