NEC’s Commitment to Safeguarding
CLICK HERE IF YOU HAVE AN IMMEDIATE SAFEGUARDING CONCERN.
The National Extension College (NEC) is a non-profit making registered charity and a distance learning provider of general educational courses. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all learners, including children, young people, and adults at risk who engage with our services.
NEC promotes a culture of vigilance, where the safety of learners is a shared responsibility of all staff. All individuals engaging with learners, regardless of role, are expected to be alert to signs of harm, actively contribute to a safe learning environment, and take appropriate action where concerns arise.
As an online and distance learning provider, we recognise the particular importance of safeguarding within a remote environment. We are committed to creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning experience where all learners feel respected, valued, and protected from harm.
NEC’s Commitment to Online Safety
NEC is committed to ensuring a safe, respectful, and legally compliant online learning environment for all students, staff, and tutors. Our policy sets out clear expectations, monitoring, and response mechanisms to protect students, particularly minors and vulnerable learners.
Likewise, NEC has clear guidance on the acceptable, responsible and safe use of our digital platform which is outlined in our Student Acceptable Use Agreement.
