Financial options

Depending on your situation, there may be ways to help cover the cost of your course.

This isn’t a complete list, but it’s a good place to start. You could also check with local community groups or charities that might be able to help.

Funding help for:

Financial hardship

If money is tight, you may be able to get help with the cost of your course. Turn2Us have a free online tool that searches for grants based on your situation and where you live.

Student support

Carers

Grants of up to £300 are available from Carers Trust towards the cost of courses and materials that will develop carers’ skills.

Prisoners

Awards of up to £750 toward education costs are available from The Hardman Trust for people who have previously been in Prison.

The Prisoners’ Education Trust provides grants to prisoners who wish to improve their future by studying through distance learning while in prison.

Home educators

If you’re home educating your child and looking for funding, we recommend speaking to your Local Authority. Depending on your location and personal circumstances, they may be able to assist you.

Froces

Members of the Armed Forces

If you are looking to do a a GCSE  (a level 2 qualification) you may be able to get help through the Standard Learning Credits scheme.

We are members of the Armed Forces Covenant.

Students aged 14-25

If you’re aged between 14 and 25, you may be able to get support from The Prince’s Trust Development Awards. Awards of up to £500 are available for courses up to level 3, subject to your circumstances.

Employed

If you’re working, your employer may help pay for your course, especially if it will improve your skills or help you get promoted. Many employers have schemes to support staff with learning. Try showing them details of the course and explaining how it will benefit your work.
