There are no formal qualifications required to enrol on this course. Everything you need to succeed is built directly into the learning materials, allowing you to start developing your analytical skills from day one on learn@nec.
This specific programme focuses on modern history, covering Weimar and Nazi Germany (1918–45), Changes in Medicine (1848–1948), and Russian history from Tsarist rule through to the leadership of Stalin (1905–53). Please note that NEC cannot support alternative options within the Edexcel specification, as our resources and specialist tutors are dedicated entirely to these modules.
The Edexcel IGCSE History exams consist entirely of structured, long-answer essays and multi-part questions worth 6, 8, and 16 marks each. To prepare you for this, your tutor-marked assignments are designed to mimic these exact exam formats and question styles. Your expert tutor will mark your work within three working days, providing detailed feedback on your essay technique to ensure you know exactly how to structure your arguments for the final papers.
Assessment is entirely exam-based and consists of two written papers lasting 1 hour 30 minutes each, with each paper accounting for 50% of your final International GCSE mark. Paper 1 focuses on your depth studies, while Paper 2 covers your historical investigation and breadth study. To remove any assessment stress for home educators and independent adults, NEC provides guaranteed exam places at our network of partnership exam centres across the UK.
