Flexible Study: How NEC Distance Learning A levels Helped Will Succeed

2 mins read

TLDR

After struggling with attendance in a traditional school setting, Will switched to distance learning with NEC to gain his A levels in History and Classical Civilisation for his university application. Thanks to NEC’s structured courses, exam-style practice, and dedicated tutor and admin support, he was able to successfully navigate the UCAS process to reach his higher education goals, recommending that future distance learners stay on track by sticking to a clear study schedule.

When it comes to preparing for higher education, finding the right provider and route that fits an individual’s needs is key. After completing his GCSEs in a traditional school setting, Will found it difficult to meet attendance requirements, but still had high hopes for the next step in his educational journey, aiming to gain his A levels to help him secure a place at university. Will decided to explore distance learning to help him on his way and found NEC by personal recommendation from a former teacher.

“I completed my GCSEs in a school environment, but left due to difficulty with attendance.” – Will

Choosing the right subjects

One of the biggest choices to make when considering how to build a strong university application, is choosing the right subject. Will ultimately decided that A level History and A level Classical Civilisation were best for him. Both these course subjects can earn up to 56 UCAS points, making them very desirable to universities.

Exam Practice and dedicated UCAS support

Will was happy to share his positive experience with us, mentioning that the particular aspects of his courses that helped him throughout were the structure of the content and the tutors. Ultimately, this support and the completion of his courses provided him with the ability to work through the UCAS process for his university goals.

“NEC provided what I needed to go through the UCAS process.” – Will

What Made NEC Stand Out?

As this wasn’t Will’s first experience with distance learning, we were curious how he felt about his time at NEC compared to other providers. When asked what worked well for him whilst studying at NEC, he was happy to inform us:

“The assignments using questions similar to what could be in exams made good practice. The admin team was very helpful and responsive”. – Will

Will advises anyone hoping to do the same and study as a distance learner to “Make a schedule.” And we couldn’t agree more. You can find more study tips as a distance learner here
